Privacy Policy
Effective date: April 13, 2026
TaperPath is a self-tracking and planning app. This Privacy Policy explains what information the app handles, how it is used, and the choices available to users.
Summary
- TaperPath does not require an account.
- TaperPath stores user-entered plan and log data locally on the device.
- TaperPath does not sell personal information.
- TaperPath does not use third-party advertising trackers.
- TaperPath can schedule reminder notifications if the user turns them on.
- TaperPath may open outside links in the device browser when the user taps support resources.
Information TaperPath Handles
TaperPath may handle the following information entered by the user:
- Name or nickname
- Taper settings
- Daily dose logs
- Symptom check-ins
- Notes entered by the user
- Reminder preferences
- Optional motivational text such as a personal reason for quitting
This information is used only to provide the app's features, such as schedule generation, daily logging, progress tracking, reminders, and symptom insights.
Local Device Storage
TaperPath stores app data locally on the user's device using on-device storage. This includes taper plans, logs, symptom entries, reminder settings, and related app state.
TaperPath does not currently require users to create an account, and TaperPath does not currently sync user data to a remote server.
Notifications
If a user enables reminders, TaperPath requests notification permission from the device and schedules local reminder notifications.
These reminders are used only to support the user's taper plan and logging routine. Users can turn reminders off at any time in the app settings or in device settings.
External Links
TaperPath may provide links to outside support resources, such as crisis or treatment resource websites. When a user taps one of these links, it opens outside the app in the device browser.
TaperPath is not responsible for the privacy practices of third-party websites.
Analytics, Advertising, and Tracking
TaperPath does not currently use:
- third-party advertising SDKs
- personalized advertising
- cross-app tracking for advertising purposes
- user accounts for profiling
If analytics or subscription services are added in a future release, this Privacy Policy will be updated before those changes take effect.
Data Sharing
TaperPath does not currently sell, rent, or share personal information with data brokers or advertisers.
TaperPath may share information only if required by law, legal process, or to protect safety, rights, or property.
Data Retention and User Control
Because TaperPath currently stores data locally on the device, users can control their information directly through the app.
Users can:
- edit their taper plan
- update logged data
- disable reminders
- reset app data and start over
- delete the app from their device
Deleting the app or resetting app data may remove locally stored information from the device.
Children
TaperPath is not directed to children under 13, and it is not intended for use by children.
Medical Disclaimer
TaperPath is not a medical device and does not provide medical advice, diagnosis, or treatment. The app is intended for informational and self-tracking purposes only.
Users should consult a licensed healthcare professional for medical questions, especially if symptoms are severe or if they are taking other medications.
Changes to This Policy
This Privacy Policy may be updated from time to time. If it changes, the updated version will be posted with a new effective date.
